The Air Force Research Laboratory signed a contract for more than 24 million for AI services
In a strategic move to fortify national security measures, the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has sealed a substantial contract exceeding $24.4 million with BlueHalo.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to amplify the capabilities of AFRL's **Satellite Assessment Center**, a critical entity tasked with assessing vulnerabilities within space systems. Hailing from Arlington, Virginia, **BlueHalo** brings to the table a wealth of expertise in space, directed energy, and autonomous systems technology. This partnership with **AFRL's Directed Energy Directorate** heralds a pivotal advancement in the realm of directed energy modeling, simulation, and analysis.
**BlackSky** is known for its artificial intelligence (AI) software approach, while this contract focuses on developing and demonstrating advanced moving target engagement services. As per the agreement, BlackSky will employ its **Spectra®** tasking and analytics platform to demonstrate how AI and machine learning can enhance various aspects including tasking, multi-intelligence collection, automatic tipping-and-cueing, direct downlink, and processing timelines for moving target engagement within a simulated environment. By integrating data from an array of government ISR and commercial sources, representatives of BlackSky declare it will demonstrate impressive capabilities in space-based intelligence gathering and analysis.
