ESA and Filtronic Collaborate on Cutting-Edge Satellite Technology for 5G and 6G Networks
British electronics company Filtronic is at the stage of creating advanced capabilities of the next generation of satellite arrays to provide high-speed Internet coverage.
Backed by **the** **European Space Agency** (ESA) and **the UK Space Agency**, **Filtronic** is a leading manufacturer of space equipment focused on high-speed, high-bandwidth connections between low-Earth orbit satellites and ground stations.
This collaboration will be **ESA's strategic mission** to advance digital transformation, especially in the field of 5G technology. A low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite arrays will play a critical role in shaping the future coverage of 5G and 6G networks, improving terrestrial communications infrastructure and providing instant and uninterrupted connectivity.
**Filtronic** technology operates in the millimeter frequency range, providing a wide bandwidth, high data transfer rate and minimal delay within local boundaries.
The contract is part of ESA's Space for 5G and 6G program, which is part of **ESA's Advanced Research in Telecommunications Systems** (ARTES) initiative. **ARTES** aims to foster commercial innovation and strengthen European and Canadian dominance in the highly competitive global satellite communications arena."
