CACI Completes Successful Testing of Key Space Communication Technology
CACI International Inc has achieved a major milestone by effectively completing Optical Communication Terminals (OCT) Interoperability Testing (OIT) for its CrossBeam® OCT, a key element in the Space Development Agency's (SDA) first tranche.
During testing, the **CACI** became the first SDA-compatible terminal to establish a serial data link with a specified modem.
**Todd Probert,** president of national security and innovation solutions at **CACI**, emphasized the importance of the conducted testing, saying that, together with the scalable production capacity of the United States, it will quickly lead to a new level of national security missions.
Testing was conducted under the leadership of **Lockheed Martin**, a company specializing in the field of aerospace engineering. It has been tasked with building 42 satellites for the **SDA Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL)**, which is to consist of 126 optically interconnected spacecraft for a persistent, low-latency, high-data-rate communications system. Tentatively, their launch will take place at the end of 2024.
**T1TL** will be the backbone of the US Department of **Defense's Joint All-Domain Command and Control** (JADC2), providing access to global communications and a continuous encrypted link in support of combat missions around the world.
In addition to successful testing, the CrossBeam® OCT version 3.0 standard provides further compatibility testing with the **Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture** (PWSA)."
